Need to ensure another Sonawane case does not happen: Rahul

AURANGABAD: Congress general secreatry Rahul Gandhi has expressed shock at the Sonawane case and said there is a need to ensure that it is not repeated.

Equating corruption with cancer Rahul said corruption is a serious issue in politics and suggested a two-pronged approach to tackle the menace.

In the short term there was a need to act immediately against corruption cases and in the long run there was a need to cleanse the political system, Rahul said.

Rahul stressed there was a need to take a holistic look at corruption and take corrective measures.

Making reference to the five-point road map of Congress against corruption, he said the party is determined to tackle the menace head-on.

Rahul said he is unhappy with the politics today and there was a need to change the structure and system. He said there is no democracy in political parties.

Rahul Gandhi is on a three-day tour of Maharashtra.

He urged the youth to join politics and become the agents of change.

He said the efforts made by him in restructuring the youth Congress will begin to show positive results in the next ten years.

Rahul urged young technical professionals to join him and help in the development of the nation.
