Sixteen killed in NW Pakistan gas blast

PESHAWAR: A blast caused by exploding gas cylinders ripped through a minibus in a northwest Pakistani town on Monday, killing at least 16 people and wounding 11 others, police said.

The blast took place at Jawarza, near the restive northwestern town of Hangu, after a pick-up truck collided with a passenger vehicle.

District police chief Abdul Rashid said from the scene that a bomb disposal team had been called in to investigate, but later confirmed that the blast was caused when the two vehicles collided, causing the gas explosion.
